Job Description

The Assistant Vice President, Compliance Officer will execute the Compliance Program for all areas of Deposit Operations in support of the Compliance Management System. This role is an integral part of the Three Lines of Defense Model within the Enterprise Risk Framework.

This position will leverage the Bank’s GRC tool for managing regulatory developments, assessing risks and controls and monitoring/testing of high-risk areas. This position also provides support and guidance to business lines.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may also be assigned .

  • Maintain a risk-based monitoring program to detect and manage consumer compliance risk
  • Leverage GRC tool to assess the risk and impact to the Bank of emerging regulations
  • Collaborate with business units to integrate compliance requirements into business processes
  • Provide support to business units with research and answers to compliance questions
  • Prepare written reports and lead the quarterly Business Unit Compliance Meetings for business units with deposit-related functions
  • Prepare well-documented and well-supported work papers and reports for distribution to the Compliance Committee and Regulators
  • Assist with maintenance of consumer-compliance related policies and procedures including a comparison to regulatory requirements and gap analysis
  • Oversee the review of deposit-related marketing efforts
  • Assist with regulatory examinations and internal/external audit requests, including preparing materials and developing responses
  • Supervise staff responsible for monitoring activities
  • Contribute to training initiatives to inform stakeholders about compliance requirements
  • Actively participate in assigned Bank Committees and Advisory Teams
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Compliance Team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Enhance knowledge of regulations by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participation in professional organizations
  • Support Management in the execution of the Bank’s strategic goals and compliance risk management activities in accordance with the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework
  • Actively participate in the Department’s mission to prevent, detect, and manage consumer compliance risk and promote a culture of compliance
  • Provide other support as needed and remain eligible for special projects or ad hoc assignments

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 7 years of audit or compliance experience in a bank or regulatory setting
  • Extensive knowledge of deposit-related consumer protection laws and regulations and Compliance Management System (CMS) concepts
  • Experience with GRC tools such as ARCHER is a plus
  • Experience with executing risk-based compliance monitoring/testing
  • Strong analytical, communication, and leaderships skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across business units
  • Ability to navigate regulations and guidance and advise stakeholders in a non-technical manner
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and draw sound conclusions
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team setting
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely; especially policies, procedures, and reports
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and project management abilities
  • Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) professional certification preferred
