The Y&F Program Manager implements high quality recreational programs; arts & humanities, STEM and sports for youth, teens and adults. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; required.
  • Minimum age of 18; required.
  • Two or more years of work experience related to the care and development of children; preferred.
  • Sports officiating/coaching experience with youth and adults; preferred.
  • Mature judgement, sound decision-making, strong interpersonal skills; required.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment; flexibility.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; required.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED Certification required within 30 days of employment.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assist Director in staffing of the all Y&F programs.
  2. Assist Director with art & humanities, STEM and sports planning and development. Program instruction and officiating is required.
  3. Assist Director with all Y&F special events.
  4. Schedule staff to work all birthday parties. Manage birthday party supply inventory.
  5. Create, coordinate, and schedule regular communication with members regarding program updates and plans.
  6. Ensure the Health and Safety of all children in the Y&F Program at all times; implement Emergency Procedures as necessary.
  7. Serve as liaison between instructors, program participants, volunteers, and parents.
  8. Work with the Marketing Team on program participant recruitment efforts.
  9. Prepare, implement and supervise program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values and objectives.
  10. Motivate and direct program participants, parents, staff and volunteers; be a team player.
  11. Organize and conduct sports clinics and camps; including but not limited to volleyball, basketball, pickleball.
  12. Organize and conduct parent and coach orientation meetings and training.
  13. Provide and document all volunteer paperwork accordingly.
  14. Maintain up to date participant, volunteer, and program records, and facility (gym) schedules.
  15. Act as liaison between the YMCA and contracted services/programs.
  16. Ensure the goals of fun, teamwork, sportsmanship and skill development are met on a weekly basis.
  17. Develop and maintain positive relations with members and staff.
  18. Enforce the rules and behavior expectations.
  19. Secure and schedule facilities in time for each program. Transport and set-up equipment appropriately.
  20. Maintain program areas and adhere to program standards in regards to equipment, storage, safety, and cleanliness.
  21. Respond to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
  22. Attend all staff meetings as required.
  23. Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergency procedures.
  24. Perform other duties as assigned.
